Honors abounded for School of the Holy Child spring athletes, with 17 earning FAA honors.

Molly Leitner, Elizabeth Curcio, Millie Cavicchio, and Julianna Capasso — have been on the softball team since they were freshman. Leitner pitched every game starting in her sophomore year and made All League all four years. Curcio, who has been All League for the past three years, played shortstop and broke the school record for all-time hits. Cavicchio was the starting catcher for four years. Capasso, who has been All League the past three years, was the starting third baseman and the leadoff batter all four years. As freshman, all four athletes helped the team win the NYSAIS Championship. Senior Stephanie Kireopolus won FAA Honorable Mention.

Leitner also won the top honor, The Herb Mulholland Award, given to an outstanding athlete who “has a passion for life, a demonstrated commitment to and love of sports, and a genuine concern for the well being of those around her.” Additionally, Leitner and Elizabeth Eiden, who is headed to Cal Tech for basketball, received FAA Scholar Athlete Recognition. This award is given to senior student-athletes who have achieved a GPA of 91% or better, are in the top 10% of their class, have taken a minimum of three AP classes, and have participated in two varsity sports their senior year, with All League in one of those sports. 

Three lacrosse players won honors as well. Junior Brigid Hans and freshman Maddie Warne were named All League and junior Mairead Walsh won Honorable Mention. 

Six girls from the tennis team earned FAA recognition. The All Leaguers were Senior Jen Kary, the No. 1 singles player who will be playing at Holy Cross. Sophomore Isabelle Robinson who played second singles, the top doubles team of Junior Maddy Fitzwilliam and freshman Alanna Walsh, and sophomore Caroline Pace who played second doubles and some singles this season. Senior Lilah Schaefer, who was 6-2 at fourth singles, won Honorable Mention.

Senior Maggie Curtis and sophomore Claire Monahan were awarded Honorable Mention for golf.

Director of Athletics, Amy Pare said, “I am extremely proud of our student-athletes. It is a joy watching them lead, develop, and excel in their sports on a daily basis.”
