Doug, who grew up outside of Albany, played basketball in high school with Greg Koubek who went on to play for Duke. At Duke, Koubek was the first player in history to play on four Final-4 teams, and was captain of Duke’s 1991 Division 1 National Championship team. After his professional career, and with the help of his friend and former teammate Doug Worman, Koubek started Koubek Camps, a program devoted to basketball education and development.
A highlight of Koubek Camps is the “overnight camp” at Brant Lake. When Worman, who is on the board of directors of Koubek Camps, was asked about the camp by one of his CYO players, pretty soon the whole team was interested in attending.
All involved had a tremendous time, learned a lot, became better and more knowledgeable players, and got an early taste of independence along the way.
