A Not-So-Scary Weekend
The Westchester Children’s Museum invites children to come in costume this Saturday and Sunday from 9-5 and enter a Glow in the Dark Room, examine animal skeletons, create a Boo-tiful Ghost Pour Painting, make a spider’s web out of yarn, and play Monsters Hide ’n Seek, if they dare!
STEAM is the current that will flow through the Museum on the Playland Boardwalk October 28 and 29, right before Halloween. For more information, visit discoverwcm.org.
Gotta Dance!
The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College Dance Series kicks off Saturday, November 4 at 8 p.m. with a performance by Los Angeles-based contemporary dance company BODYTRAFFIC. Known for their technical mastery and commitment to the most challenging repertoires, they embody energy, sophistication, and the sheer joy of dancing. Performing with the company is Purchase College Conservatory of Dance alum Alana Jones.
Tickets range in price from $35 to $55 and are available at artscenter.org/events/bodytraffic.
Rainbow on the Horizon
The Rye Youth Council is holding its 5th Rainbow Run Tuesday, November 7. Kids in grades K-6 are invited to run, skip, or walk along a meandering .7-mile loop in Rye Town Park, while teen volunteers and members of the Rye Police Department toss colorful powder on them. The fun begins at 9:30.
Proceeds from the event help the Rye Youth Council provide low- to no-cost clinical therapy to kids ages 5-22.

A Wild Weekend
Edith Read Sanctuary is alive with flora and foragers in every season. It’s the “Hall of Fame” for invasive plants, too. On November 11, from 1-2:30, join a program on how to be at one with invasives, where you will learn how to remove and identify these problematic plants.
On November 12 from 2-3:30, Meet the Rodents of Read. They’re survivors who “make a living” in their habitats.
Some of That Fall Spirit
The Rye Historical Society is hosting its annual Fall Food & Whiskey Bash on Saturday, November 11 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. under a tent at the Knapp House. In addition to sampling some of the Society’s Square House bourbon, guests will enjoy beer, wine, a buffet dinner, and good company.
