Jennifer Rachel Alpern and Thomas Edward Rafter were married on October 7, 2018 at The Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine. The bride?s brother, Jonathan Alpern, M.D., officiated. A reception followed at the Samoset Resort.
The bride is the daughter of Dr. Warren Alpern of North Yarmouth, Maine, and Deborah Hansen, of Mills River, N.C. The groom is the son of Robert and Patricia Rafter of Port Chester, N.Y.
The bride was escorted by her parents. Julia Davenport, of Denver, was matron of honor. Robert M. Rafter, of Wayne, Pa., the brother of the groom, was the best man. Also in the wedding party were Lindsay Yost, Deidre Fogg, Robert A. Smalley Jr., Pete Reisner, and Ted McDermott. The bride?s aunt, Kristi Jones, friend Katherine Howe, and the groom?s cousin, Meg Galas, gave readings.
The bride graduated from Catherine McAuley High School in Portland, Maine, and Colorado College in Colorado Springs. She earned a master?s degree from University of Colorado. She is a pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology at The Children?s Hospital in Denver.
The groom graduated from Rye High School and the University of Colorado in Boulder. He is a systems analyst at Boulder Community Hospital.
Avid runners, skiers, bikers, and rock-climbers, the couple is well-suited to an adventurous life in Colorado. After a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, they returned to their newly-constructed home in Denver.
