This week, SPRYE (Staying Put in Rye & Environs) named Barbara Brunner as its new board president. A Rye resident for more than 50 years, she is involved in many local organizations, including Helping Hands for the Homeless and Hungry and the Rye City Republicans. She replaces Nancy Haneman, who is stepping down but will remain on the board.

Tom Saunders will continue to chair the Executive Committee. New members Fritz Falanka and Michele Thomas were elected to the board.

Soon to celebrate its fourth anniversary, SPRYE continues to thrive and grow. Over 60 volunteers give of their time and offer extra support to members who want to remain in their own homes and communities for as long as they possibly can.

SPRYE provides services to adults age 60 and over in Rye, Harrison, Rye Brook, and Port Chester. Services include transportation to medical appointments, for grocery shopping and other essential errands, handyman help, technical assistance, and a calendar of social and educational programs geared to the interests of its members.
