Since opening in 1908, The Osborn has been a highly visible, integral part of Rye. “I often think how proud John Sterling and Miriam Osborn would be to see The Osborn of today,” reflected CEO Mark Zwerger. “When Mr. Sterling chose Theall’s Hill in Rye as the site to build this community, bringing Mrs. Osborn’s vision to life, I wonder if he could have imagined that it would become home to hundreds of Rye residents and members of their families.”

Zwerger continued, “The Osborn is creating a Centennial Brick Walkway and Garden on the South Lawn surrounding the flagpole to commemorate over a century of excellence in senior living, skilled nursing care, memory care, home care services, and rehabilitation therapies. The Centennial Walkway will consist of handsome, red clay bricks, echoing the beautiful ‘Osborn red’ bricks of the original Georgian building.”

The Centennial Brick Walkway and Garden will be inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in September to which all donors will be invited. Jane Fox, Director of Marketing and Fund Development at The Osborn noted, “The Osborn is opening this unique opportunity to the public to be part of its history because so many people in Rye have had family members who lived here and are part of its history. We hope people will honor their family members by making a tax-deductible contribution to personalize a brick.” Fox added, “Bricks can be personalized to commemorate your family name, to honor a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, or holiday, or in memory of or in thanksgiving for a loved one.”

Bricks are available in two sizes: 4” by 8” for $100, and 8” by 8” for $200. All proceeds will benefit the renovation of The Osborn Rehabilitation Center.
