Our area has no shortage of places to be coiffed and pampered. A new find on the glam circuit is Beauty Bar & Salon at 8 Bowman Avenue in Port Chester. The blow dry bar and full-service salon combo, which opened a year ago, has quickly cultivated a loyal following, from prom girls to savvy women looking for high-end services at reasonable prices.

Rye Brook resident Stacy Sakellariou opened the business after training in the industry and working at a variety of Westchester salons. “This has been my dream,” said the now 27-year-old entrepreneur, who is originally from Fishkill. From the time she was a child braiding her friends’ hair in the playground, Sakellariou knew that she wanted to be in the beauty business.

After researching blow-dry bars and salons in Manhattan for ideas and inspiration, Sakellariou transformed a vacant storefront, which had been a salon six years earlier, into a modern and colorful space. The atmosphere is upbeat and her young staff keep current on the latest trends in hair and beauty. Complimentary mimosas and cappuccinos are available, along with large-screen TVs at the blow-dry bar to keep customers entertained. There’s also free Wi-Fi and outlets for charging cell phones.

Beauty Bar is unique in that is offers both a blow-dry bar and a full service salon, says Sakellariou. Five stations for blow-drying are located at the bar in the front, while a color specialist and haircut and style expert work in the back. As a Moroccanoil salon, Beauty Bar uses a wide assortment of these popular products, which are also for sale. For color services, there are many top-brand options, including ammonia-free products.

Beauty Bar & Salon also offers manicures, pedicures, waxing, and makeup. Special makeup packages range from “Fast & Fabulous,” a quick eye makeup or lip and cheek application for $25, to the “Grace Kelly,” a more comprehensive service including full-strip or individual eyelashes for $120.

Sakellariou and her staff like to have a one-on-one rapport with customers. “We really care, we really listen, and we try to go that extra mile.” Appointments suit busy schedules and they offer Sunday hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A blow-dry is $35; a package of five is $150. Full services run the gamut from cuts to highlighting to updos. Men and children are also welcome. For more information, call 939-7800.
