Elizabeth Foxen Dunn, 66, a longtime resident of Rye, N.Y., died peacefully on August 22, 2020.

Born on October 16, 1953, she was the daughter of William and Eleanor Amy Foxen and was raised in Laurel Hollow, N.Y.

After graduating from Manhattanville College with a degree in Political Science in 1975, Betsy, as she was known, lived in Manhattan and worked in banking for several years. While living in New York City, she met her future husband, Fred Dunn. They were married in 1983.

The Dunns moved to Rye, where Betsy was an active volunteer in the community she loved dearly. Over the years, she was involved with the Twig, the PTO, and as a class mother. She ran the Rye High School House Tour and the Midland Book Fair and Silent Auction. She coached Rye Girls’ Softball and watched every Rye School of Dance recital. She sat in the stands at every one of her children’s games, never missing an opportunity to help them or her community.

The greatest joy of her life was being a devoted wife, loving mother, and loyal friend. She was a caring and thoughtful person who set a fine example and touched the lives of so many.

Mrs. Dunn is survived by her husband Fred; her children Katie, Molly (Peter), and Matthew; five siblings; and a large extended family.

The family asks that donations in her memory may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or POTS (Part of the Solution) in the Bronx.
