Bette Ann Murray

Bette Ann Murray passed away peacefully at her home in Westport, Conn., on April 22, 2017, with her family by her side. She was 86.

Born Brigid Ann McHale in Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland, on January 26, 1931, she immigrated to New York at the age of 19.

For thirty years, she and her husband Gerald Murray lived in Rye, where they raised their five children.

Tough as nails and smart as a whip, she worked hard and placed her trust in God,” said her family. She was a warm, genuine, and happy soul who took pleasure in simple things. She loved tag sales, maps, talking on the phone, reading, the color pink, Googling, offering others helpful hints, and history.

Mrs. Murray was predeceased by her husband Gerald, and her son, Raymond. She is survived by her son, Thomas L. Murray, and her three daughters: Maureen Murray, Patricia Johnson, and Eileen Murray and her husband Zachary Djimas; her adoring grandchildren: Thomas G. Murray, Paige and Aidan Medley, Shannon and William Johnson, Devon and Dylan Murray; her sister Julia Marley, and her sister-in-law Dorothy Murray.

She will be deeply missed and her spirit treasured forever in the hearts of her family.

A funeral mass was held April 28 at Church of the Assumption in Westport, Conn. Interment followed at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, New York.

The family asks that, instead of a monetary donation, you kindly visit with or take your grandmother out for lunch.
