Robert J. Fuchs, an advertising copywriter and talented songwriter, died suddenly on September 14, 2022. A longtime resident of Rye, N.Y., he was 76.

The son of Joseph A. and Katherine D. Fuchs, lifelong residents of Rye, “Bob was a dedicated husband and beloved brother who was welcoming, warm, witty, and genuine. He always had time to listen, and his many friends relied on his sage advice,” said his family.

He graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains before going on to earn an undergraduate degree at Boston College. He then joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years.

Mr. Fuchs created advertising campaigns for J. Walter Thompson and his ad spots were featured on a Super Bowl telecast. During his career, he worked with a variety of advertising and marketing agencies, creating memorable messaging.

Known for his creative talents, he wrote original songs and was a gifted lyricist. An exceptional musician, with a great curiosity about instrumentation, he knew how to make a song sound great.

An avid New York sports fan, he was a regular caller on sports talk radio. He started each day with SNY, and regularly contributed on “Metsmerized”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Maria Brown Fuchs; his stepdaughter Lauren Brown and her son Jarren; and his brother, Tom Fuchs and his wife Linda, and their daughter, Aleah Gerdes of Phoenix.

The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home in Rye on September 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. Mr. Fuchs will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Rye Brook, on September 29 at 11 a.m.
