A popular local dance center is embarking on its fourth year in Rye and grows by leaps and bourees every session. More than 140 students performed during Brava Dance Center’s latest spring performance at the Emelin Theatre May 18-20. Brava offers tap, ballet, jazz/hip-hop, theatre dance, and lyrical/contemporary classes year-round, including a five-week summer session that begins July 10.
Hogan began dancing at the age of 8 at JG Dance Arts Center in Hyde Park with Broadway and TV veterans Joseph and Ginnie Mazzello. After high school, she studied dance at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. She has performed as a singer/dancer and dance captain in many regional theatre and summer stock productions, including “Barnum,” “Pajama Game,” and “Music Man.”
