School of the Holy Child is proud to announce that senior Chloe Giroux has been named the winner of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition for the 17th Congressional District of New York.

School of the Holy Child is proud to announce that senior Chloe Giroux has been named the winner of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition for the 17th Congressional District of New York. In recognition of this outstanding achievement, Chloe’s work will hang in the Capitol Building for one year. Additionally, she has been invited to travel to Washington, D.C. to meet with Congresswoman Nita Lowey. The work of senior Krista Escaffi-Aguilar was also recognized with an honorable mention from the 17th Congressional District.

Congresswoman Lowey said, “I am impressed by Chloe and her amazing artistic talent. I couldn’t be more proud that her work will be displayed in the United States Capitol where millions of visitors will be able to see it. I was equally impressed by Krista’s excellent work. I have no doubt that in the near future, both Chloe and Krista’s work will be on display at galleries, exhibitions, and museums.”

Each spring, the U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to encourage and recognize artistic talent across the country and in each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

Hambleton, Ed.D. “The work each student submitted to the Congressional Art Competition demonstrated great skill, a unique voice, and a commanding presence.” He added, “We appreciate the efforts of Congresswoman Lowey’s office, and join in celebrating Chloe and Krista, whose commitment to the field of visual arts has been evident throughout their time at Holy Child.”
