Congratulations to the Rye High School Class of 2014

The summer solstice was smiling down on the 83rd Rye High School Graduation Ceremony last Saturday.

The summer solstice was smiling down on the 83rd Rye High School Graduation Ceremony last Saturday. As the seniors crossed the bridge for the last time as a class, the RHS Band performed Sir Edward Elgar’s glorious “Pomp and Circumstance.”

After Principal Patricia Taylor warmly welcomed students, families, faculty, Board members, and honored guests, Superintendent Dr. Frank Alvarez offered his high praise of the Class of 2014 and his best wishes as they move on to the next act of their educational life.

In the Latin Oration, Luke McGinty, Carolan Moses, Charlotte Nixon, Elizabeth Rodrigues, Holly Tice, and Aurora Zahm gave their “measure” of the Rye High experience, celebrating Rosa’s omelets and Raul’s Pancakes as well as friendships and academics.

As always, the musical interludes provided memorable notes. Vocalist Clare Cecil, accompanied by pianist Alec Stepanian, performed “The Call,” and Luke McGinty sang “The General,” accompanied by Sebastian Saavedra on guitar.

Caps off to Valedictorian Samantha Carter and Salutatorian Olivia Iles.

A fond farewell to all 212 members of the Rye High Class of 2014. May the sun shine warm upon your faces always.
