Former Rye Golf Club Manager Scott Yandrasevich and his attorney Kerry A. Lawrence of Calhoun & Lawrence made their third appearance before Judge Joseph Latwin in Rye City Court January 7. Yandrasevich is accused by the Westchester District Attorney’s Public Integrity Bureau of stealing $271,000 from the club, a second degree felony.

Yandrasevich, who drove himself to court in a gray, late model Mercedes 300C, sat patiently with Lawrence in the back of the court while several other cases were heard.

When their turn came, as on two previous occasions and despite Lawrence’s pleas, Latwin granted Assistant DA Valerie Livingston more time for the people to prepare and present their case to a grand jury. Since the case has not yet been before a grand jury, and Yandrasevich has not yet been indicted on the charges and remains free on bail.

Lawrence showing some impatience, reminded Latwin that, when they last appeared in court on December 17, the judge had wanted to “keep the DA’s feet to the fire” on the matter so that they would proceed to a grand jury. “This is your court,” Lawrence told Latwin. “I know it’s my court,” Latwin responded; then he suggested that Lawrence pick a date in March so that he and his client would not have to return to Rye again so soon.

Latwin granted an adjournment until March 18. “If something happens before then, good luck,” he told Lawrence.

A spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the grand jury delay.
