Diane Langeloh, 66, of Rye, N.Y., and Germantown, Md., passed away on March 26, 2020, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Rye on May 7, 1953, she was the daughter of John and Eleanor Langeloh. She attended Milton School and graduated from Rye High School, class of 1971.

She chose to further her studies in the Washington, D.C. area and attended Marymount University in Arlington, Va., where she earned a degree in videography. She found her career focus in this new technology, securing a position with Halliburton NUS, the nuclear research and environmental consulting firm, and quickly rose in the ranks as Production Manager of Training and Energy Resource Services, primarily working in coordination with power plants. By the end of her career, Ms. Langeloh had become the first female vice president of NUS Training Corp. Her co-workers held her in high regard as an effective and caring manager.

 

While she pursued a serious career, those who knew her best described her as dynamic and fun-loving. She was the “organizer” in the family and enjoyed planning and hosting social events, displaying a wonderful gift for bringing people together at a moment’s notice.

“Diane treasured her friendships because she knew what it meant to be a good friend,” said her family. “These relationships, mostly originating from grammar school days, kept her in great stead throughout her life. She was the most loving and generous person – a caretaker, a caregiver, and a person who would drop everything to help someone out. Diane lived a full and meaningful life and will be missed by all.”

In the mid-90s she retired early to travel, pursue her hobbies, and be with family and friends. For ten summers she ran the family inn on Block Island. She loved beach walks so much that her siblings nicknamed her “The Shell Seeker”. Montauk, Martha’s Vineyard, and Fort Lauderdale became some of her other favorite haunts.

 

Diane Langeloh is survived by her brothers, John (Mary Jane) and Richard (Colleen), her sisters, Barbara Butler (Kevin) and Kathy Reeves (Frank), and her sister-in-law, Gail Langeloh. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Eric Langeloh.

 

A celebration of her life will be planned for a future date this summer.
