Donna Leary

Donna Ann Leary of Winter Park, Fla., died on Feb. 8, 2024, at the age of 83.

Born March 21, 1940, in Greenwich, Conn., she was the daughter of Nicholas and Mary Golia. After graduating from Greenwich High School, she entered the Nursing Program at Greenwich Hospital, and received a Master’s in Administration from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

She spent her entire career at Greenwich Hospital, as a pediat-ric nurse, as Head Nurse in Pediatrics, and finally as Director of Admissions.

Throughout her life, she was deeply committed to family, the Catholic faith, education, and traveling the world with her husband, Bill Leary, who survives her. They were married for 63 years and raised their family in Rye, N.Y., where they lived from 1973 to 2000.

Mrs. Leary is also survived by her six children: Erin of Minneapolis, Minn., Bill (Tamra) of Winter Park, Colleen of Norwalk, Conn., Richard (Susan) of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., Steven (Meg Fitzgerald) of Winter Park, and Tom (Tanya) of Raleigh, N.C.; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Marlene, and brother, Joseph.

The family sends special thanks to the Allegro Winter Park staff and caregivers, especially Pauline Jones and Asia Bonilla, for the compassionate care they provided. “They treated Donna with the same love and kindness that she gave to so many.”

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held April 20 at Resurrection Church in Rye, N.Y. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at a location to be determined.

Donations in Donna Leary’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
