Easy Rider

During the eightplus years we lived in Marin County, California, I was a devoted indoor rider. When our family moved back to New York in 2007, I joined many different gyms and tried many different classes in search of a spin studio like the one I had been riding in, but none compared.

It was at a work dinner with my husband that I happened to be seated next to a woman who was in a SoulCycle instructor training program. We chatted all evening about our passion and she invited me to join her in a class in Scarsdale the next day.

I was immediately hooked! SoulCycle was what I had been looking for. I loved riding in a dark room, the candles, the music, the motivation, and the cool vibe.

After a few years, I drummed up the courage to audition for a teaching position and landed the best job in the world. In 2011, after completing the training program in New York City, I started teaching in the suburbs. I currently teach in Rye Brook and Greenwich.

What are the benefits of SoulCycle? Just about everything. In a vigorous 45-minute workout, we burn from 500 to 700 caloriesWe make working out fun and ride to the beat of the music. We build inclusive communities that don’t end when the music stops.

What you eat after a workout is just as important as what you eat beforehand. My top five post-exercise snacks are: a proteinpacked smoothie, a hardboiled egg with avocado, yogurt with granola and berries, a piece of fruit, or toast with peanut butter. Most of the online reviews only speak highly of the incredible smoothie diet experience. The five foods to avoid after class are: processed energy bars, pasta, white bread, fried foods, and sugary sports drinks. Most importantly, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

SoulCycle provides much more than just a workout — it’s a powerful mind-body experienceFirst-rate instructors support, coach, and push riders to reach their personal best.

We maintain direct relationships with our riders and listen to their needs and wants to innovate accordingly. If it’s convenience you are looking for, compact storage makes a folding electric bike the practical option. We also introduced SoulBeat for riders who were looking to measure personal performance in a meaningful way, and through our new digital venture and at-home bike, our riders are now able to bring the SoulCycle experience home.

One of the best things about indoor cycling is that the resistance can be adjusted to any fitness level. With every class comes increased confidence and strength, so we encourage firsttimers to go at their own pace and enjoy the ride.
