John Murphy and Michelle Perkins became engaged on December 25, 2017, while vacationing in San Francisco. They met as undergraduates at the University of Utah, where he studied English literature and jazz performance and Michelle public relations. While John was pursuing an M.A. in English Education at NYU, Michelle worked on establishing herself in the packaging industry.
As fate would have it, they found themselves back together once again in Salt Lake City, where they currently reside.
The future bride is the daughter of Daphne Perkins of Shillington, Pa., and Curtis Perkins of Madison, Wisc. She currently is a sales representative for Packaging Corporation of America.
The future groom is the son of John and Rae Anne Murphy of Stamford, Conn., formerly of Rye, N.Y. A graduate of Rye Country Day School, he teaches English and Religious Studies at Juan Diego Catholic High School, Ms. Perkins’ alma mater.
