The Rye boys’ basketball team won the Sound Shore Classic tournament hosted by Mamaroneck High School last weekend. The victory was the team’s second tournament win this season.

In game one, the Garnets beat rival Harrison — who kept the game close until the final minutes, 60-47. Rye was propelled by a solid performance by senior Co-Captain Max Twyman. The next day, Rye bested Rye Neck by a score of 60-55.

Rye High Coach John Aguilar, who coached Rye Neck last season, said, “I am very proud of the progress they have made and how they have built off of last year’s winning season. They are going to be tough to beat in the playoffs.’’

Twyman scored 29 points against Rye Neck, and grabbed 11 rebounds for tournament MVP honors. Senior Co-Captain Mike O’Neill scored 11 points and was named All-Tournament. Rye Neck’s Matt Franks led the Panthers with 20 points.
