George A. Milliot III, devoted husband, brother, father, and friend, died February 20, 2022, at his home in Rye, N.Y. with his family at his side. He was 89.

Born in the Bronx, N.Y., the son of George and Josephine Milliot, the family moved to Mamaroneck when he was a toddler. He attended Holy Trinity Grammar School and graduated from Blessed Sacrament in New Rochelle. After graduating from Iona College, he went to work in sales for Mott’s. He later joined Arnold Bakers, as a sales manager, and enjoyed a long career in Long Island, Westchester, and Greenwich.

In 1955, George Milliot married the girl next door, Harriette Lamonde. That same year, while working at Winged Foot Golf Club, he bought season tickets to the New York Giants, and those tickets remained in the family for over 60 years.

The Milliots moved to a house they built in Rye in 1982. A devout man, he became actively involved with Church of the Resurrection, serving as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He also volunteered at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

A tremendous sports fan, he coached CYO basketball and Kiwanis baseball for many years. He was a member of Rye Golf Club, and, after his retirement, he organized a group of men to play golf every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, a routine that continued through his 87th year.

When his wife was stricken with Alzheimer’s, he devoted more than 12 years to her care. In 2012, she passed away in their home with him by her side. He often said he missed her every day. The family would like to thank the caregivers who helped look after George, when he later was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Mr. Milliot is survived by his sons, Jim (Jeanne), Tom (Tricia), David (Emily), and Paul (Laure); his sister Mary of Mamaroneck; seven grandchildren (Laura, Kaitlin, Jeanne, Josh, Jeff, Elizabeth, and Marc); and six great-grandchildren (Bianca, Noah, Ethan, Sal, Silas, and Eli). He was predeceased by his brothers, Peter and Stephen, his sister Ann, and his son Timothy, who died in 1959.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Church of the Resurrection on February 22. Donations in George Milliot’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
