“The Club is very excited to be organizing this event,” said President Susan Olson. “There are so many exceptionally talented students in our schools and so many talented parents as well. We are all looking forward to a fun event for two very worthy causes.” All proceeds from ticket sales and application fees will benefit Guiding Eyes for The Blind and Vacation Camp for the Blind, two organizations “that the Lions Club continually supports.”
Participants must live or attend school in Rye and will be judged in the following age groups:
Category 1: Grades 6-8
Category 2: Grades 9-12
Category 3: Adults 18 years and up
A winner in each category will receive a $250 cash prize. The talent categories include singing, dancing, instrumental, and drama. Groups may also perform.
The deadline for submitting applications is September 15. Applications are available at Rye Middle and High schools, Rye Country Day School, Rye Recreation, Rye YMCA, The Osborn, and the Rye Arts Center, or by emailing Janet Malang at jmalang@theosborn.org.
