Rye High’s 400-meter freestyle relay foursome of Kelly Delane, Melissa Fulenwider, Katie Konopka, and Charlotte Nixon, placed 10th at State Championships this month with a time of 3:41. It marked the fastest time of the season for the relay team.
Fulenwider and Konopka, both seniors, and Delane and Nixon, both juniors, were seeded 23rd going into the November 17 relay competition at Ithaca College.
Fulenwider also qualified for States in two individual events. She placed fifth in the 100-meter breaststroke and eighth in the 100-meter freestyle.
Nixon said she’ll miss the graduating seniors, “who always made every meet and practice positive.”
Head Coach Shannon Bolger said she’s confident the Garnets “will rally together next season to be just as strong as this.”
