Harrison Youth Held on Rye Assault Charge

According to the Rye Police Department, on February 16 detectives initiated an investigation into an assault that occurred on Fairway Avenue in Rye. They were acting on a report that several youths assaulted one male victim in the driveway of a residence shortly after 10 p.m. on February 15.

A cellphone video of the assault was made available but proper identification of the assailants proved difficult.

Several witnesses came forward who identified an 18-year-old Harrison resident as one of the assailants. The subject was arrested and charged with Assault in the third degree on March 3. Due to New York State Raise the Age laws, the subject is still eligible for Youthful Offender Status. Consequently, his name and photograph are being withheld due to his possible Youthful Offender status.

There are still several suspects who have not been identified. Detectives are requesting anyone who witnessed the assault and can identify suspects to contact Rye Detectives at 967-1234.
