Earlier this month, the Rye Rangers Hockey Club awarded its annual Good Skate to Mimi Shea in honor of her husband, Drew Shea, player, coach, and friend, who died last May. Covid prevented the Club from presenting this earlier. The award recognizes that member of the club who has gone above and beyond.
The Good Skate was dedicated at the Rye Rangers Memorial Cup on December 15, 2001 in honor of three members, Tommy Palazzo, Teddy Maloney, and Ward Haynes, who perished in the tragedy of the World Trade Center. The Good Skate is meant “to remind us of their goodness and inspire us to be better individuals.”
