For three days in May, The Rye Arts Center held Moving-Up Ceremonies. In all, 170 Head Street preschoolers moved up. The children had participated in music, art, clay, dance/movement, and storytelling for the previous 26 weeks. Over 300 families shared in the celebration.
For the very special occasion, the children sang “All Together Now” by The Beatles. Their performance would have made the Fab Four proud.
This is the 31st year that the Arts Center has offered the Head Start Arts Program. At the ceremony, ten students were chosen to receive full scholarships for a week in the RAC Summer Creative Arts Program.
The program is made possible through the generous support of The Wallace Fox Foundation, Laurie and Rob Platek, Jane and Bill Pearson, WESTCOP, Sandra Rose, Robert Wiener, ArtsWestchester, and the New York State Council on the Arts.
