Nathalie Rodilosso of Rye High won the Conference III singles tournament on October 16, propelling her to among the top four seeds in Sectionals, which began this week. Her finals win (6-4, 6-3) against Horace Greeley’s Alex Kung, the No. 2 seed, avenged the tough third-set tiebreaker loss in last week’s Conference Team Tournament.

Rye beat Fox Lane (7-0) and Byram Hills (5-2) to reach the final against League Champion Horace Greeley, who won 4-3 in an epic team match where all seven matches were decided in a third-set super tiebreaker.

Garnets Alanna Morque and Maggie Tolley, who played 2nd and 3rd singles all season, joined up as a doubles team for the Conference tournament. They won matches against teams from Briarcliff and Fox Lane before losing in the semifinal to Keio’s Mako Tanaka and Wakana Tanaka, the eventual winners. Reaching the semis earned them a spot at Sectionals.

The Rye Neck first doubles team of Ekim Buyuk and Diana King reached the finals of the Conference III doubles tournament, losing in a very close match to Keio’s Tanaka and Tanaka (6-7, 6-3, 4-10). Buyuk and King, who won this tournament in 2011 and 2012, beat teams from Harrison, Byram Hills, and Keio to reach the finals. They will be playing in Sectionals as well.
