Rye freshman James McHugh got some extra rounds of top-flight golf in early this year after being invited to play in the Metropolitan PGA Junior Golf Tommy Kuhn Cup Invitational at the Creek Club on Long Island August 30.

McHugh won both of his matches, but the Westchester Westies team lost to the Long Island Islanders by one stroke. The rising young golfer shot even par on the front nine and won the back nine in match play. He’s a member of Rye Golf Club.

Invitations to the special Ryder Cup-style event went to seven boys and two girls from Westchester in two age groups based on their summer golf scores.
