Rye is a sports town through and through, and despite the precipitation last weekend, it was game on for many local teams.
The Rye High Girls’ Tennis team topped Suffern High 4-3 on September 22. Alex DiMeo, No. 1 Singles, won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. The No. 1 Doubles team of Ella Poole and Sasha Sherman won 6-4, 6-3. Hannah Cali and Sophia Karl, No. 3 Doubles, won 6-3, 6-2. In the No. 4 Doubles spot, Paloma Pepper and Tori Hobbins pulled out a victory in a tiebreaker, after splitting sets.
The Rye Country Day Football team was outmatched by Long Island Lutheran High School, 34-6, on September 23.
The Rye High Volleyball team shut out the Eastchester Eagles, 3-0, on September 23. Among the key players for the Garnets were Emma Lunstead, Anna Nolasco, Ava Hoogstra, and Erin Ball.
On September 23, the Rye Neck Boys’ Soccer team beat Harrison, 2-1, in double overtime! Rocco Ruscitto scored both goals. Evan Janowitz had two assists, and goalie Hamza Abdalla had three saves for the Panthers.
