Rye merchants know how to put on a show. And last Sunday, they ushered in the sparkling season with their annual family festival, Mistletoe Magic.
There were activities by the dozen, spirited and sweet. Purchase Street was aglow with excited children, rushing to get a front-row seat at the puppet show and take a ride in the horse-drawn carriage or on the express train. Animal lovers headed to the petting zoo. Hungry parents and grandparents joined them at the hot dog cart and chili tent. Many headed to the Village Green to watch an ice sculptor create a lifelike and chilling Darth Vader.
Santa listened carefully as youngsters shared their wish lists. And he could see that his mailbox, on the corner of Elm Place, was filling up with heartfelt requests, too.
Here’s to a holiday filled with magic for one and all.
