In Praise of Those Who’ve Served

In a May 9 ceremony at West Point, leading up to the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day landings on June 6,1944, Edwin Cooper was inducted into the French Legion of Honor by Consul General of France, Bertrand Lortholary.

 

In a May 9 ceremony at West Point, leading up to the 70th Anniversary of the D-Day landings on June 6,1944, Edwin Cooper was inducted into the French Legion of Honor by Consul General of France, Bertrand Lortholary.

Now 88, Cooper, who is a resident of The Osborn, was a young combat engineer when he took part in the liberation of Colmar, France from Nazi occupation, for which he was honored.

He was one of 34 World War II inductees honored at the ceremony.
