The community turned out last week for SPRYE, the two-year-old organization that could — and does provide a support system for seniors in Rye, Harrison, Purchase, Port Chester, and Rye Brook. While many of the guests were over 65, all the attendees were there to raise funds to make sure seniors can continue to live in their homes and communities.
The honorees were Connie and Bruce Macleod, who have given back in so many ways to our community for decades. The most touching moment of the evening was when Bruce explained that through marrying Connie, and being a part of her family, how he had grown a bigger volunteer heart.
A toast to the SPYRE board, Wainwright House, where the event was held under a tent October 3, and Cornerstone, which provided catering for the ages.
