Jim DeFilippo
It is with great sadness that the family of James J. DeFilippo, a resident of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., announces his passing after a long illness, July 25, 2018. He was 75.
A native of Rye, he was the son of Elizabeth (Melillo) and Gelsomino (Jim) DeFilippo. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1965. He worked for IBM, primarily in East Fishkill, for 42 years.
His favorite place in the world was Lake George, N.Y., where he spent countless hours with his children and grandchildren boating, camping, and enjoying the beauty of the lake.
His daughters Betsy, Sharon, and Kristen said, “Our father will be lovingly remembered for his great intellect, wisdom, and sense of humor. Above all, he was a great dad.”
In addition to his children, Mr. DeFilippo is survived by his grandchildren: Alexandra, Samantha, Nicholas, Georgia, Olivia (Clare), and Kathryn; his sister, Jeanne and brother-in-law, Richard (Scotty). He was preceded in death by his brother, George.
A funeral mass was held July 31 at Church of the Resurrection.
