County Executive Robert P. Astorino asks residents to join scores of civic-minded individuals, organizations, and community groups at Pitch In for Parks, the County’s largest one-day spruce up of its parks, pathways and nature centers, Saturday, April 26, 9-3 at many Westchester locations. The rain date is Saturday, May 3.

Volunteers in this annual program play an active role in the stewardship of the more than 18,000 acres of Westchester County parks, trails, and nature centers. You can choose a favorite park and help with tasks from trail clearing and pruning to flowerbed preparation to debris removal, painting, sweeping, and cleaning. Businesses are encouraged to help by donating snacks and beverages.

“Pitch In for Parks is the perfect opportunity to give back to your community all while enjoying the beautiful spring weather, getting some exercise and, of course, having fun,” said Mr. Astorino.
Volunteers are welcome to “pitch in” for an hour or two, or the whole day and should dress for outdoor work. Work gloves, cleaning tools, and supplies will be provided for volunteers who sign up in advance.

For more information, visit westchestergov.com/parks. To sign up for a specific project, call 864-7318.
