June Lombino

June Lombino, a longtime Rye resident and retailer, died peacefully at her home at Rye Colony, surrounded by her family, on March 18, 2017, after a long battle with lung cancer.

Born on June 28, 1935, in New York City, she was the daughter of Thomas and Francis (O’Leary) McLaughlin. Mrs. Lombino was a graduate of New Rochelle High School, class of 1953, and LaSalle Junior College in Newton, Mass., in 1956.

In June of 1957, she married Robert J. Lombino. While raising her children, she was co-owner of a women’s boutique, June Elizabeth’s in Rye and in Larchmont, for twenty-four years.

Known to many in town as a warm neighbor and active community volunteer, she was a member of Rye Rotary, Rye Merchants Association, and the Larchmont Chamber of Commerce. For the past ten years Mrs. Lombino worked as a real estate agent for Stetson Real Estate.

She was a member of Coveleigh Club for over forty years. In her free time, Mrs. Lombino loved to play bridge with her friends, spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was an avid reader. Devoted to her family, she never missed a birthday or anniversary, and loved to tell stories with pride and colorful details.

She is survived by five children and their families: Katharine (Kathi) and James Mulvey and their children Ashley Smith, Courtney DePinto, Katharine Boehn, and Stephen Mulvey; Tracey and Dante Brittis and their children, Dante and Christina; R. Scott and Jolie Lombino and their children, Robert, Brianna, Christian, and Madalena; Sherry-Lee and Wayne Stewart and their children, Julianna Marella, Louisa Marella, and Keira Stewart; and Mary-Kay Lombino and Eric Steinman and their son Ezra; as well as three great-grandchildren, a niece, Katharine (Kim) Martin, and four grand-nieces. She was predeceased by her sister, Katharine (Kay) Morley in 1957.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, March 23 from 5-8 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Church of the Resurrection on March 24 at 11 a.m. Her remains will be buried alongside her parents, sister, and grandparents in Holywood Cemetery in Brookline, Mass.

Donations in June Lombino’s memory may be made to Church of the Resurrection.
