Linking Handlebars (LH) is a Rye-based nonprofit organization committed to promoting healthier lifestyles for underprivileged children through the gift of a bicycle. They collect gently used bikes and accept monetary contributions to purchase new bikes and helmets and to refurbish used ones, and provide children the opportunity to experience all the benefits of cycling — exercise, transportation, and enjoyment of the great outdoors. By working with the Carver Center and Don Bosco in Port Chester and the Ward Summer Reading Institute, LH was able to donate over 220 bicycles to children in Port Chester.
“I appreciate all of the hard work that was put into this combined distribution,” said LH vice-president Cristiana Villani. “Having the opportunity to branch out and link up with Miller’s Bikes, WCC’s Bikes4Kids, and Larchmont Temple has been a gratifying experience because we are able to touch the lives of even more children.”
