Not only did Scott Hanley make honor roll every semester of his Rye High School career, but he also was a standout on the Winter Track Team, and for that earned Lions Club recognition this spring.

In the shot put, Hanley was Section 1 Class B Champion and All-League both his junior and senior years. He also is the RHS winter shot put record holder.

For his prowess on the track and field, Hanley earned varsity letters in Winter and Spring Track, and Football. Over the last two summers he’s played first base for an 18-and-under baseball team, which has won four regional tournaments and boasts a 36-4 record. The team has earned a World Series berth this summer.

At Rye High, Hanley won departmental awards in Geometry, History of New York City, and Physical Education.

Among his extracurricular activities are: Awards Assembly Committee, on which he’s served as student advisor of the program; Athletic Advisory Committee, working with the RHS Athletic Director and a group of local youth sports program directors; and Varsity Athletes Against Substance Abuse, speaking to elementary school students about the dangers of drugs.

This summer, he’s once again a camp counselor at Shenorock Shore Club. In the fall, he’s headed to Marist College
