At the Lions Club’s 15th Annual Rye Scholar-Athlete Award Dinner at The Osborn on June 10, nine Rye High seniors from nine different sports teams and nine successive months were honored, with proud parents, coaches, and Athletic Department staff looking on. They also found out who students had chosen in a vote for the annual winner: Garnet basketball captain Max Twyman, a four-year varsity star and member of the 1,000-point club.

Honored along with Twyman (pictured at center) were, from left, Aidan Talgo for hockey, Melissa Fulenwider for swimming, Henry Bailey for golf, Jack Hasselmann for football, Scarlett Sulliman for lacrosse, Audrey Love for soccer, Jason Chen for skiing, and Catherine Livingston for softball.

Club Secretary/Treasurer Dave Heller emceed the evening ceremonies. “Every year, I am continually amazed at the talent and skills — both academically and athletic — that these future leaders in our country possess,” he said. “It seems that each year they get better and better.”

Heller and Club Vice President Sarah Ball presented Twyman with a trophy. The Lions have honored 138 RHS scholar-athletes over the years.
