Kelly McRedmond, a three-year starting defender for the Rye High School girls’ soccer team, was recently selected as Lions Club Athlete of the Month, the first of the new school year.

The senior was appointed as captain prior to the 2011 season, and has racked up All-League and All-Section awards during the program’s glory days. She was a main cog in last year’s run to the State final, and was on the roster in 2008 when the Garnets won it all.

McRedmond is also a star on the Rye girls’ golf team, and last year earned All-League and All-Section Honorable Mention accolades.
A stalwart in the classroom as well, McRedmond was elected to the National Honors Society this year. She has earned departmental awards for global history and geometry.

The soccer star also donates her time to the community, having volunteered at the Jarden Westchester Triathlon each year since 2008. She’s done the same with Rye Youth Soccer Camp for the past three years. She also helped remodel the inside of a Larchmont apartment building with Habitat for Humanity in 2009.
