New York State Commissioner John B. King recently identified Midland and Osborn schools as being among 250 Reward Schools that were named under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver that New York State received from the U.S. Department of Education in May.

As Reward Schools, Midland and Osborn have demonstrated high achievement and high progress, with particular growth in English Language Arts and math performance.

Reward Schools, which will have opportunities to receive grants and variances, represent either the highest achieving schools in the state or those that have made the most progress and do not show significant gaps in student achievement.

“The Rye City School District prides itself upon consistent student achievement, and this is another example of the fine work that takes place in all of our buildings,” stated Superintendent of Schools Dr. Frank Alvarez. “Student learning is the focus of our staff, and we are pleased to share this news at the beginning of what is anticipated to be a successful school year.”
