Members of different faiths gathered at Community Synagogue the afternoon of November 24 for the Rye Interfaith Thanksgiving Service. A leader from each Rye house of worship led part of the service.
Rabbi Daniel Gropper welcomed the assembled and called them to prayer. Rev. Colin M. Chapman from Christ’s Church read the Hebrew Blessings of Gratitude; Steve Magneson from Trinity Presbyterian shared a meditation. Rye Presbyterian Co-Pastors Rev. John Miller and Rev. Dan Love respectively read Psalm 100 and text from Jewish Scripture. Rabbi Gropper read the Christian Beatitudes.
The subject of Rabbi Leora Frankel’s sermon was how hard it is for those of us in Rye who have so much to appreciate that so many others have so little.
Rev. Msgr. Edward O’Donnell shared a Thanksgiving prayer.
Donations of food and money collected at the service were given to Holy Rosary Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry.
