Silent Is Golden for CCNS

The bidding was fast and furious at Christ’s Church Nursery School’s Silent Auction, Friday, March 2 at Apawamis Club. Proceeds from the annual benefit support the school’s Literacy, Music Enrichment, and Museum Programs.

Director Lisa Pearson, center, and Debbie Yarter (4’s teacher), to her right, take a moment to thank Silent Auction Coordinators Missie Fahey, Nancy Steers, and Lesley Findlay.

The Goodbye Guy

When The Rye Record hired Jim Byrne in the summer of 2006, we asked him to cover sports. Pretty soon, we’d added schools, obituaries, and hard news to his assignment kit. A year ago we turned over the job of editor to him. He’d earned his

wings and then some.

Last weekend, we toasted Jim as he begins a whole new career. As we wrote on his farewell cake, Jim is going back to school — as communications director of a New York City private school.

He says he likes being a commuter for the first time in years. The train ride gives him plenty of time to catch up and be ready for the morning school bell.
