Lim — Beutel

Dr. Irene Isabel Lim and Dr. Bryan Beutel were married April 27, by Father Epifanio Marcaida, at Church of the Resurrection in Rye.

The bride, 27, is the daughter of Marvin and Veronica Lim of Rye. She is a resident physician in General Surgery at the New York University Langone Medical Center.  She graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological and Environmental Engineering. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from New York University School of Medicine in 2011. Dr. Lim, who is called Iris, grew up in Rye and attended Resurrection Grammar School, School of the Holy Child, and Loyola School in New York City.

Dr. Bryan Beutel, also 27, is the son of Robert and Margaret Beutel of Ridgefield, Connecticut. He is a resident physician in Orthopaedic Surgery at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases. He graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological and Environmental Engineering. He went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from Brown University’s Alpert Medical School in 2011.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Aruba, before returning to their home in New York City.

Mayor for the Day

Without having to run for election, Connor and Spencer Owen had the chance to serve in Rye’s top job last month. How did the brothers do it? Courtesy of Mayor Doug French, who, for the past several years, has offered the opportunity as a donation to the Midland School Auction.

During their time with the Mayor, Connor and Spencer, fifth and second graders respectively, got a tour of City Hall and Fire Department Headquarters. They got to see: the Mayor’s office, where the mayor sits during City Council meetings, the vault in City Hall, some of the firehouse equipment, where the firemen eat and sleep when they’re on duty, and how the fire truck ladders operate.

The boys learned that Mayor French has a day job, too — as Executive Director of Integrated Marketing for Wolters Kluwer. “So, his days and nights are pretty busy,” observed the boys.

Connor and Spencer asked a lot of questions and came away learning a great deal about the workings of local government.
