Mr. Otis, former three-term mayor of Rye and longtime counsel and chief of staff to State Senator Suzi Oppenheimer, said he’s eager to put his experience in local and state government to good use.
So far, no Republican challenger has come forth.
Mr. Otis described his approach as “non-partisan” and said he was running to “solve problems and get things done in the Sound Shore communities, which I know well and will be a zealous advocate for.”
The 91st Assembly District includes Rye, Rye Brook, Port Chester, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, and parts of New Rochelle.
In his announcement, Mr. Otis said, “A major priority will be to find innovative ways to lower the cost of government and control property taxes. Last year I worked closely with Ossining officials in successfully securing state legislation to merge their village and town courts. We need to continue to find ways to lower the cost of government at every level.”
He noted that he has worked closely with State Senator Oppenheimer on a number of key issues, notably “advocating for Westchester schools, improving flood mitigation and emergency management, protecting Long Island Sound, advancing women’s issues, and supporting small business.”
