Obituaries: Charlene Tobin

Charlene Tobin

Charlene Catherine Tobin, a longtime local resident and top realtor, passed away on February 9, 2019 in White Plains, N.Y., at the age of 67.

Born in the Bronx, she was the daughter of Charles and Catherine (Yorio) Anselmo. Raised in Ardsley, and a graduate of Ardsley High School, she continued her education at Iona College in New Rochelle.

It was at Iona that she met her future husband, Edward Tobin. They were married for 45 years.

After college she worked as an insurance adjuster before becoming a real estate agent in Rye. For more than 25 years, she was consistently a top producer and recognized industry leader in Westchester County. She considered herself blessed to have made so many friends over the years, many of whom were clients.

Mrs. Tobin was a devoted and loving wife and mother, and very proud “Mimi” who cherished time spent with her family, especially in Cape Cod, where after years of vacations she built a family home where many memories were created and enjoyed.

In 2015, Charlene and Ed Tobin retired to Naples, Fla. She enjoyed all that life in Florida had to offer and participated in a variety of activities including, a book club, “Bio Babes,” Mahjong, golf and bocce. She was always up for a fun night out and was known for being the first one on the dance floor.

“Our mom was a force of nature who left a lasting impression in the hearts and minds of those who knew her,” said her daughters. “She will be missed tremendously by family and friends.”

In addition to her husband Ed, she is survived by her daughters, Chrissy Hazelton and Lauren Tobin; her son-in-law, Christopher Hazelton; and three wonderful grandchildren: Thomas, Charlotte, and Teddy Hazelton.

A wake will be held in Rye, followed by a funeral service at St. Gregory’s Church in Harrison, and interment in Orleans Cemetery in Cape Cod. A Memorial service to celebrate her life will be held in Naples.

Contributions in Charlene Tobin’s memory may be made to the Animal Rescue League, 3981 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631.
