James Cluen Dolce of Rye, N.Y. died peacefully on January 5, 2020 after a brief illness. He was 71.

 

Born June 13, 1948 in Rye to Muriel C. and Dr. John J. Dolce, he was a graduate of Canterbury School in New Milford, Conn. and Villanova University, where he played on the Men’s Hockey team. On May 10, 1975 he married Wendy Silliman at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Fairfield, Conn. Shortly thereafter, the couple moved from New York City to Rye, where they raised their three boys.

 

Mr. Dolce worked in commercial real estate in New York City and Westchester County before ultimately starting his own firm, Dolce National Real Estate, in 1990. He was a longstanding member of the National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives. 

 

Jamie attended Resurrection Grammar School and was a devout parishioner at Resurrection Church his entire life. For more than ten years he taught CCD for Resurrection. When his sons were growing up, you would often find him on the Little League fields; he was a coach in Rye for over a decade. He loved to golf and was a member of Apawamis Club in Rye and Lake Winnipesaukee Golf Club in New Durham, N.H. 

 

As a child, he and his family spent their summers on Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He carried this tradition on with his own family, and Lake Wentworth is a place he held near and dear. On a warm summer day, he was likely in the lake, swimming with his grandchildren.

 

Jamie Dolce was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he was a great friend. Many would say Jamie was the life of the party, always on the dance floor and enjoying a good time with those he loved. 

 

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother John E. Dolce. He will be fondly missed by his wife Wendy of over 44 years, along with his son Frederick and his wife Kerri and their children, Benjamin, Wyatt, and William of Stratham, N. H.; his son James and his wife Olivia and their children, Emily, Charlotte, James, and Thomas of Marblehead, Massachusetts; and his son Christopher of Rye. He is also survived by his sister June E. Heffernan and her husband Jack of Rye, brother Donn C. Dolce and his wife Nora of Rye, his sister in-law Beth Dolce of Harrison, and many nieces and nephews. 

 

A celebration of Jamie Dolce’s life was held January 10 at the Church of the Resurrection.
