Violande “Micki” Acowitz, loving mother of four, passed away at the age of 83 on May 3, 2019.
Born in Mamaroneck on November 13, 1935, she was the daughter of Raphael and Jennifer DiRoberto. She was married twice and raised two sons, Scott and Todd, and two daughters, Dawn and Pyr.
Mrs. Acowitz lived most of her life in Rye, where her passion for the beach was exceeded only by the long walks she shared with friends and family. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching young children who often found solace in her care. Unknown to many, she was an avid fan of Southern rock, and she left many wondering who this Lynyrd Skynyrd fan is.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Joseph, Robert, William, and Stephen, she is survived by her sister, Florence. Her three brothers predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated May 8 at St. Augustine’s Church in Larchmont.
