On the worldwide storytelling day, November 19, tales were told in 40 states and nine countries across six continents, from Miami to Mumbai, Perth to Peoria, Bangok to Rye.

The Rye Storytellers Guild has met for 25 years on Tuesday evenings at the Rye Free Reading Room. Among the selections were a deeply moving reading of “The Happy Prince” by Phyllis McBride, a beautiful poem about Playland in winter by Patrick Ahearn, a wild reading of “The Shooting of Dan McGrew” by Ellen Kaplan, touching memories of her childhood in Romania by Edith Halpern, a hilarious rendering of Abbot and Costello’s “Who’s on First” by Angela and Vinny Calderella, and a team effort by Neva Winter, reading a children’s sto
