In its final concert for the 2013-14 season, the Westchester Chamber Music Society is excited to present The Ariel String Quartet Sunday, April 27 at 4 at Congregational Emanu-el. Formed in Israel, the quartet has quickly earned a glowing international reputation, performing widely in Israel, Europe, and North America. The four young musicians will play Haydn’s Quartet in G Major, Op.76 #1, Britten’s Quartet #2, and Schubert’s Quartet in G Major D.887, a program that will showcase their brilliant and varied musicianship.

Seating is open. Tickets, which are $40, can be purchased at the door. No charge for students. After the performance, guests are invited to a wine and cheese reception with the artists.

Highbridge Voices, the acclaimed Bronx children’s choir, will perform at The Osborn Sunday, May 4 at 3. This is a rare opportunity to hear the group. The choir performs a wide variety of music and has an impressive resume of accolades and accomplishments. They have performed for the Justices of the United States Supreme Court, with Celine Dion, on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Today Show” and the CBS “Early Show,” and at Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Highbridge Voices is an extended-day music and academic program designed to inspire excellence in the lives of children. Founded in 1998, the organization serves the Highbridge neighborhood of the South Bronx, which was historically part of one of the most impoverished areas. With a rigorous choral experience as a springboard, Highbridge fosters a sense of pride and accomplishment in its young members through high-quality musical experiences, academic support and enrichment, and a foundation of values geared to prepare each child for success in grade school, college, and life. As proof of how rigorous music training can transfer to other aspects of life, Highbridge Voices students consistently outperform their peers on New York State standardized Math and English language arts examinations. Since 2006, 100 percent of Highbridge students have graduated from high school, and more than three-quarters of them have enrolled in college.

The free concert at The Osborn is open to the public and sponsored by the Interfaith Committee of the Sterling Park Residents Association.
