The Beauty Box opened in town on May 10 at 1005 Boston Post Road. The new hair salon’s co-founders, Gaynor Donelan and Jessica Pineda, are giving an already growing clientele the royal treatment.

“We believe people come before profit and we will be spending more time with our clients. We want everybody to leave happy,” assured Donelan, who spent 26 years in salon management and business development.

Pineda added, “The clients are the reason we’re here. We maintain a relaxing environment, so you could enjoy the overall experience, from the cappuccino and biscotti to the massage at the shampoo bowl to the seamless checkout, complete with hair recommendations.”

Pineda, a model and actress in her native California, moved to the East Coast and began working in the salon industry three years ago when she met Donelan. The duo forged a strong enough partnership to embark on a new venture. As Donelan remarked, “We complement each other very well. I have the experience and the knowledge, Jessica has the younger viewpoint and the energy.”

A mother of five from England, Donelan also noted that both were drawn to Rye’s sense of family, as well as the town’s quaintness. Aspiring to fully engage the community, the pair has a few attractive offers up their sleeves. In addition to a $35 blow-dry introductory offer, they will be holding Bring Your Own Blow Dryer Thursdays. While enjoying a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres, clients can learn how to use the hair styling tools they currently own. A dazzling selection of jewelry will also be available.

They’re working on a charity event to be held on a Sunday at the end of the month. Proceeds from all haircuts will be donated to Look Good, Feel Better. The American Cancer Society program helps female cancer patients improve their self-image by teaching beauty techniques to minimize the appearance of chemotherapy and radiation side effects.

Having worked together previously, the entire Beauty Box staff embraces a team spirit. Two master colorists collaborate with three hairdressers to optimize client satisfaction. They use only top-of-the-line hair products, such as the highly regarded Kerastase line, as well as the edgier, style-focused Bumble and Bumble.

In addition, Donelan and Pineda have created a chic non-traditional salon set-up. The spacious 1,200-square-foot shop offers distinct styling sections and a separate color lounge, where clients may spread out comfortably at a table with their iPads and magazines. While an original 1920s tin ceiling and wood floors have all been restored, exposed brick and leather seating add texture and warmth. Lit by dainty crystal chandeliers, special track lighting, and floor to ceiling lead windows, the shop is bathed in a soft glow.

The environmentally safe business operates paperless, so its services, prices, promotional offers, and discounts are listed solely on the website, www.thebeautyboxny.com. Also look for them on Facebook, The Beauty Box NY, and on Instagram, The Beauty Box_NY.

The Beauty Box is open seven days a week because “one never knows when there might be a hair emergency.” Hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 10-7; Thursday from 10-8; and Saturday from 9-6. Enjoy a mimosa on Saturday mornings and take advantage of valet parking every day. For an appointment or a free consultation, call 967-0373.
