For runners of all abilities, there’s a new store in town – the Rye Running Company opened Thanksgiving weekend at 37 Purchase Street. One of 19 stores in the Northeast founded by Olympic Trials Qualifier Gene Mitchell, the Running Company is designed — and run — to serve the running community.

“We will do all we can to start you, keep you, or get you running again,” says the youthful and fit Rye store manager Matt Stallsworth. The store offers a complete range of running shoes – Nike, ASIX, Brooks, New Balance, Saucony, among others – and a unique approach to putting you in the right shoe. According to Tim Clark, District Manager for The Running Company, “We put you on a treadmill in the store, and analyze your gait and mechanics in order to help you select the proper footwear.”

There are all kinds of running outfits by North Face, Nike, and Brooks, made of moisture-wicking fabric, as well as compression conditioning wear made by CW-X. Not to mention watches, water bottles, hand warmers, and energy bars.

Why Rye? “It’s a town full of runners,” says Stallsworth, “and we want to be a place where runners hang out and meet for a run.”

The Rye Running Company will be hosting running clinics and group runs organized by ability. “People can meet here, leave their personal belongings at the store, and go for a run.” Adds Clark, “All of us are thoroughly trained in running mechanics and kinematics, as well as injury prevention and rehabilitation.”

On your mark!
